The inciting moment

They stole more than a pony.

Debbie Hanson begins as an ordinary Pony Club mother. When two smooth-talking con men steal her daughter Andi’s valuable show pony, Debbie is thrust into a world of interstate fraud, manipulation, and stolen trust.

Told through Andi’s perspective, the series follows a daughter watching her mother transform from a worried parent into a fearless investigator and unlikely leader.

An unlikely alliance

Every victim carries another piece of the truth.

Debbie discovers that she is not alone. Other women have trusted the same men—and paid a devastating price. A fiery horse trainer, a tough farm owner, and a determined socialite join Debbie to connect the evidence and stop the cycle.

Different in background and temperament, the women are united by a shared refusal to let the criminals choose another victim.

The pattern grows

One crime becomes a coast-to-coast pursuit.

The trail crosses state lines, horse farms, show grounds, and the lives of women who never imagined their trust would be used against them.

The stakes rise

When resources run thin, Debbie steps forward.

With federal resources stretched in the aftermath of 9/11, Debbie is recruited to assist an undercover operation. Working with investigators and supported by her audacious team, she enters the criminals’ world to document what authorities need to stop them.

The operation is tense, unpredictable, and occasionally darkly funny—because this group of women refuses to fight on anyone else’s terms.

The payoff

Their evidence becomes impossible to ignore.

The women’s persistence helps expose the scale of the operation and leads to dozens of indictments and multiple convictions. Yet the greatest victory is not simply a case won.

It is the discovery that courage can be contagious—and that people brought together by betrayal can become a fiercely loyal family.
